A progressive professor at the Massachusetts College of Art received hate mail after after a satirical story broke on many leading sites, including Instapundit (who correctly observed that it was a parody).

A liberal professor has received hate mail after a plethora of conservative news sites falsely reported that he had told his while male students to kill themselves.

The conservative blog reports are entirely false, Politix has learned. “You’ve been had,” Professor Noel Ignatiev said in an email to some of the bloggers who ran with the story, which he shared exclusively with Politix. “Learn to read before you go off,” he concluded, after pointing out that the source of the story was a satirical blog.

Prof Ignatiev, who teaches at the Massachusetts College of Art, has received hate mail since the accusations were published, including “invitations to commit suicide.”

However, there is still a plethora of reasons to dislike Ignatiev. His “abolishing the white race” concept a disgraceful exercise that even his colleagues refuse to take seriously.

Noel Ignatiev, a founder of a journal called Race Traitor and a fellow at Harvard’s W.E.B. DuBois Institute, a leading black-studies department, argues in the current issue of Harvard Magazine that “abolishing the white race” is “so desirable that some may find it hard to believe” that anyone other than “committed white supremacists” would oppose it.

In excerpts appearing this week in newspapers nationwide, Mr. Ignatiev, who is white, writes that “every group within white America,” including “labor unionists, ethnic groups, college students, schoolteachers, taxpayers and white women” has at one time or another “advanced its particular and narrowly defined interests at the expense of black people as a race.”

Mr. Ignatiev pledges in the essay that his journal, Race Traitor, intends to “keep bashing the dead white males, and the live ones, and the females, too, until the social construct known as ‘the white race’ is destroyed not ‘deconstructed’ but destroyed.”

His colleagues at Harvard seem not to take his proposal entirely seriously.

As an extra bonus, he was Marxist activist who managed to get ahead in Harvard (perhaps with the help of a lot of “white male privilege?)”

Ignatiev set up Marxist discussion groups in the early 1980s. In 1985, Ignatiev was accepted to the Harvard Graduate School of Education without an undergraduate degree. After earning his master’s degree, he joined the Harvard faculty as a lecturer and worked toward a doctorate in U.S. history.

Finally, given the prickly sensitivity of progressives, one has to wonder what the professor qualifies has hate mail when he essentially teaches a hate-based doctrine.
