Sonography students sue Valencia College over vaginal ultrasound training

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Two female Valencia College students said they’re suing the school after being required to do intrusive procedures on each other as part of the sonography program.

The students told Channel 9 they were forced to perform transvaginal ultrasounds on each other.

“I think any rational person would look at something like this and be distressed,” attorney Chris Dillingham said.

Dillingham said the procedure was required because ultrasound technicians use a transducer to detect problems with fertility or pregnancies.

“It occurred once a week while my clients were in the program,” Dillingham said.

The unidentified women claim that when they refused to participate, the school retaliated against them.

“They said they’d be blacklisted. Their grades would be reduced,” Dillingham said.

Eyewitness News found out that no other locals school require transvaginal ultrasounds as part of the coursework.

WFTV contacted Valencia College officials about the lawsuit, who said the school hadn’t been served and wouldn’t comment on the case.
