If this was an act of arson, it’s an absolute disgrace.

FOX 8 in Cleveland reports.

Kent State: Arson suspected after ROTC vans damaged; reward offered

A spokesperson for Kent State University tells FOX 8 News that two ROTC vans were damaged by fire. It happened just after 2:30 a.m. Monday in the R3 Terrace lot at Kent.

The spokesperson tells FOX 8 that arson is suspected. The ROTC buildings on both Kent State and Youngstown State University are on lockdown due to a heightened security risk and all ROTC students at both Kent State and Youngstown State University are being told not to wear their uniforms until further notice, as a safety precaution.

Kent State is working with the Ohio State Fire Marshal in the investigation and a $5,000 reward is being offered for information.

Investigators say they want to hear from anyone who saw something out of the ordinary at or around the time of the fire or who may have “heard someone speaking about the fire with an unusual level of interest or knowledge.” Anyone with information is asked to call the State Fire Marshal’s Fire & Explosion Investigation Bureau at 1-800-589-2728.
