First of all, how do we know this isn’t another racism hoax? Second of all, why is the entire school being punished?

Mass. High School Cancels Rest of Football Season after Racial Graffiti Appears on Player’s House

A high-school football team in Massachusetts has canceled the remainder of its season after a player had a racial epithet spray painted on his house’s foundation.

“Knights don’t need [the n-word],” read the graffiti on the house of Lunenburg High School Blue Knights’ 13-year-old junior varsity fullback, Isaac Phillips.

It isn’t the first harassment the player has faced; Phillips, the son of a white mother and black father, has had a tire on his bicycle slashed and his cleats have been pulled out of his locker and soaked with water.

The FBI is investigating. In addition, authorities are investigating whether Lunenberg players yelled racial epithets at a rival team earlier this season.

The school canceled last Friday’s game and has announced the team will forfeit its remaining two games, including the traditional Thanksgiving Day game. The Lunenberg School Committee said the decision was made out of safety concerns in what it termed an “emotionally charged environment.”
