It’s good to see American justice applied to a woman in the same way as a man, in terms of having sex with an underage partner.

Last year,  26-year-old Sarah Jones, captain of the Cincinnati Bengals cheerleading squad and a one-time English teacher in a Kentucky high school, was indicted by a Kentucky grand jury for having sex with a 16-year-old high school football player.

However, the romance between teacher and student continues.  Sarah Hofmann of The Daily Caller has an update to the story:

Sarah Jones, 28, a former Cincinnati Bengals cheerleader and high school English teacher who plead guilty to having an affair with a student, is now engaged to the student. Cody York, 19, proposed to Jones while on vacation in Florida, reports Cincinnati.com.

The affair, which occurred when York was a high school senior, came to light in October 2012. Jones didn’t have to serve any jail time in return for pleading guilty to felony custodial interference. She also had to agree to never teach or coach children again.

Jones is currently a paralegal at the firm of her attorney, Eric Deters. Deters supports the engagement, saying, “if they want to get married and live happily ever after or not, who knows? Nobody ever knows how marriage turns out. I wish them all the best.”

Jones also is currently embroiled in an $11 million defamation lawsuit against the website thedirty.com. The website alleged that while Jones was a Bengals cheerleader, she had sex with the entire team.
