The University of Michigan settled with a former student over allegations the school mishandled a sexual misconduct case.

The Washington Times reports:

Ex-student, university settle sex misconduct case

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) – A former University of Michigan student has reached a settlement that has the school dropping its determination he violated a sexual misconduct policy.

The Detroit News, Detroit Free Press and The Ann Arbor News report Friday the deal means the Ann Arbor university will clear the record of Drew Sterrett. He filed suits last year alleging Michigan committed violations while investigating a 2012 sexual encounter between him and a female student.

Sterrett maintains the encounter was consensual and the woman didn’t report it until months later. He hasn’t been charged with any crimes.

As part of the deal, he can’t reapply to the university or contact the student who filed the complaint.
