Police: Drunk college student surprises stranger in bed
A drunken college student was arrested after police say a woman woke up a little after 2 a.m. Friday and found an unknown man lying next to her in bed. The woman jumped out of bed and called police.
Andrew Koster, a 21-year-old University of Delaware student, was charged with trespassing and criminal mischief, according to a release issued by the Newark Police Department.
While the victim called police Koster, who appeared intoxicated, wrongly told the woman he lived there, according to Sgt. Gerald J. Bryda, a spokesman with the Newark Police Department. Police say that Koster and the 36-year-old female victim both reside in the 300 block of Delaware Circle.
Koster eventually fled down the stairs and exited the residence, according to Bryda.
Responding officers searching the scene noticed that a window air conditioner had been moved and damaged, police said.
Police also discovered shoes, a cell phone and a wallet containing Koster’s identification, police said.
He was later taken into custody and is awaiting arraignment as of Friday evening. A photo of Koster was not made available by the Newark Police Department.
