Should College Presidents Get Involved In Politics?
Presidents have used their positions to attack Trump recently.
Press-Citizen reports.
How openly political should college presidents be?
Fourteen months ago, when he was still president of Drake University, David Maxwell never would have felt comfortable stating the following sentence in a public setting:
“We should find much of what Donald Trump says to be truly frightening as the antithesis of everything that we stand for as institutions, challenging by implication the very legitimacy of the (higher education) enterprise.”
Having led the Des Moines private university for 16 years, Maxwell knew well if he ever would dare to offer such a personal political opinion about any presidential candidate, many of Drake’s students, parents, alumni and donors would assume he was speaking on behalf of the institution.

He, like many administrative boobs at most colleges and universities have no standards or ethics. It does not require any real brains to run an institution of higher learning. It is unfortunate that such fools are given huge amounts of money to act dumber than freshmen.
