Lightning strikes, damages Mississippi College clock tower
CLINTON, Miss. — Mississippi College’s clock tower atop Nelson Hall on the Clinton campus has been damaged by a lightning strike.
The college, in a news release, said it happened Thursday. Officials say the clock’s time was frozen at 9:15 p.m. when thunderstorms hit the area.
Bricks were knocked out of the landmark, which was built in 1947, and power was temporarily knocked out to the building’s first floor and other nearby buildings.
There were no injuries reported.
