College students may be forgiven for thinking some of the newest students in their classes are too young to be in college — increasingly, many of them are.
Growing numbers of high school students are enrolling in college courses through dual and concurrent enrollment programs, which allow them to get a taste of college life and earn college credits while simultaneously finishing their high school degrees. These programs have astounding payoffs: participating students are more likely to attend college, earn higher first-year GPAs, and graduate in less time and at a higher frequency than their peers.
