These High School Habits Will Fail You In College
Question: Will the habits that works for me in high school still work for me in college?
USA Today reports.
5 high school habits that will fail you in college
Pat’s Take
Last year, our “8 high school habits that will fail you in college” article was the most-shared article we have ever written, being passed along more than 200,000 times.
Why was there so much excitement about that article? I think it is because while books like my Making College Count give you a roadmap for what to do in college, the things you don’t do in life can be just as important in determining your success. And, some of the poor choices that will hurt you in college are actually things that drove your success in high school.
So, here are five more habits that worked well in high school, but will fail you in college.

High school is taught by ed majors. What worked for an ed major will not work for other majors.
High school is filled with students who have to attend. College is voluntary and the students should be choosing majors which they like and will work hard to learn.
High school doesn’t prepare students for college, so what goes on in college will come as a surprise.
Most colleges will simply abolish tests, grades, classes and requirements soon anyway. Not to worry and keep protesting.
The ugly truth is that with pressures for retention, lower standards and course evaluations, non-selective college is becoming more like high school every day.
I would add to the list of things that you need to change in college taking responsibility for knowing what the instructor expects you to know rather than simply doing what the instructor asks you to do. Completing assignments is not enough.
