Millennials Turning Toward Socialism But Don’t Know What The Word Means
Quite a few couldn’t answer the question and admitted that they didn’t know what socialism means.
Anyone surprised?

“What about Venezuela?”: Millennials stumped on socialism [VIDEO]
We’ve heard that millennials are turning towards socialism, and we’ve also heard that many don’t actually know what the word means. There was a little bit of both at the Movement Electronic Music Festival in Detroit.
One festival-goer eloquently said, “It’s all for the common goal of living life to the fullest of life.”
Another young woman seemed to think socialism was related to how “sociable” and “open-minded” people are.
“It’s like, the 21st century, and you got to get with the times,” she said. “I feel like when you’re more sociable and you know more about being open-minded to everything then you’re going to have a good life.”

The title and description of this post does not match what I saw in the video. In the video, there were several young people that actually denounced socialism, several who declined to express support based on the fact that they did not fully understand what socialism was (which is at least better than supporting socialism and not understanding what it is), and a few who supported it (and only one of those did not really seem to understand what it was – and frankly I think she was trolling the questioner).
If anything, that video gave me hope, as the answers were more thoughtful than I thought they would be. At least those who did not know what socialism was admitted that they didn’t know – which is the first step towards learning.
