Drexel University Law Prof Calls for Repeal of Second Amendment
The professor made his case in an article for Rolling Stone Magazine but we’re going to use a Campus Reform report to tell you about it.
Drexel law prof. blasts ‘outdated,’ Second Amendment
The Second Amendment is “outdated, a threat to liberty, and a suicide pact” and should be repealed immediately, according to a Drexel University law professor.
In a recent Rolling Stone op-ed, Drexel University Associate Professor of Law David S. Cohen, who is an expert in topics such as sex discrimination, abortion, and LGBT issues as well as a board member of the Women’s Law Project and Abortion Care Network, claims that he only reveres the Constitution when it is “used to further social justice” and make the country more inclusive.
“There is absolutely nothing permanently sacrosanct about the Founders and the Constitution,” he writes. “They were deeply flawed people, it was and is a flawed document.”
He teaches a Constitutional Law class that Drexel University’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law requires its law students to take in order to obtain their J.D.
“Just think of what would have happened in the Orlando night-club Saturday night if there had been many others armed,” Cohen says in reference to the Orlando nightclub shooting Saturday night that claimed the lives of 49 people.
“The death toll could have been much higher if more people were armed.”
He goes on to assert that the Second Amendment must be repealed and that it “is wrong for this country and needs to be jettisoned.” He also calls the National Rifle Association (NRA) an “organization that is nothing more than the political wing of the country’s gun manufacturers.”
Cohen has written several other pieces for Rolling Stone as well as Slate, where in one article, he refers to the now late Justice Antonin Scalia as “our favorite arch-nemesis.”

Amendments don’t get repealed and a lawyer should know that and what the procedure is to amend the Constitution. The rights spelled out in the Bill of rights are God given and preserved by the Constitution. The 2nd amendment is for self-defense against an out of control gov or invaders and idiots like that prof. History doesn’t support his views. A disarmed public is the open to invasion, tyranny or both. It will get more people killed. Plus he totally is forgetting how long it took for the police with their guns to do anything for those being shot. He is just repeating a hysterical position because guns scare him. People who can’t or won’t defend themselves are sitting ducks. He’s the one who’s deeply flawed and is afraid to take care of himself.
Amendments don’t get repealed
Actually, they do… but through the amendment process.
The 21st Amendment explicitly repealed the 18th.
What you may not know is that a lot of professors are not very intelligent. This guy Cohen is one of them. I knew many when I taught. It is too bad, because they teach our children.
“The death toll could have been much higher if more people were armed.” He misses the point: The club was a “weapons-free” zone, which left the occupants defenseless and undefended. If others had been armed, the death toll could have been much lower, maybe just one or two – one of them the terrorist.
One needs to read this profs words… He is a SJW and totally blows it about counting slaves 3/5 for determining voting populations for Congress. Just as our illustrious Prez as an adjunct lecturer on limited part of Constitution…. Just how much studying have these “experts” done? Could they even pass a simple citizenship test….which itself is passé.
In their eyes, the only outcome of using a gun is bad. Only government professionals can be trusted. Furthermore, it is unjustified to take “law into our own hands” and deprive any criminal a day in court. Who are we to be judge, jury and executioner? Everyone must be considered innocent until proven, detached from reality in a court room, that they are guilty. That dear readers is the altruism that leads to victimhood…the highest calling of these people.
