Ohio college student collapses on basketball court, dies

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio–Officials say a university student in Ohio collapsed while playing basketball at a campus recreation center and has died.

Youngstown State University spokesman Ron Cole says in a statement that Eric Stone died Tuesday night at a Youngstown hospital.

Stone, who is a native of Calcutta, Ohio, and had been living in Newton Falls, was a junior majoring in electrical engineering.

Cole says Stone had been president of the university’s chapter of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Counseling for students and employees will be available.
