Bernie Sanders held a campaign event at Rutgers University and no conservatives showed up to protest or shout him down.

Imagine that.

Bernie Sanders staging campaign rally at Rutgers University

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is in New Jersey for a campaign rally at the state’s flagship university.

Hundreds of people were waiting in line early Sunday afternoon, a few hours before the Vermont senator was due to speak at the Rutgers Athletic Center in Piscataway.

Sanders is expected to address several issues at the rally, including his plans to make public colleges and universities tuition-free, combat climate change and ensure universal health care.

The rally is the first of two that Sanders has planned in New Jersey. The other is scheduled for Monday morning in Atlantic City.

Sanders currently trails front-runner Hillary Clinton in the Democratic presidential primary.
