How to overcome college application fears

What do werewolves, zombies and the college application process have in common? If you’re like a lot of people, all three of these things strike fear in your heart. Most applicants have at least some apprehension about applying, and some are absolutely frozen by anxiety. Face your fears and learn how to approach the college application process like a pro by following this easy five-step guide.

1. Keep some balance in your life

Obsession tends to make us focus on the negative aspects of things, heightens anxiety and reduces our ability to think clearly. Be sure to maintain strong ties to family and friends. Not only are they your support system for the application process, they’ll remind you that applying to college isn’t the only thing happening in the world. As you create your college applications, make time for the people in your life and talk about things other than applying to college. If they bring it up, move the conversation to a more casual topic. Finally, take time for your health. You’ll need sleep, nutrition and exercise to keep you feeling good throughout the process.
