Student Assembly Proposes Introduction of New Major, First Generation Representative
The Student Assembly passed two resolutions aiming to augment diversity on campus at its meeting Wednesday afternoon.
The assembly passed a resolution supporting the creation of an Asian American studies major 19-1-1, with an additional two community votes bumping the vote to 21-1-1.
“The Asian American studies lacks resources and remains understaffed … with increase in interest but no additional resources have been allocated to this program since its creation in 1987,” said Linda He ’16, facilitator of Cornell Asia Pacific Islander Student Union.

I only skimmed the article, but I did not see any majors listed for the students who were interviewed or who spoke at the meeting. What I wonder is: how many of the Asian students wanting Asian Studies are presently enrolled in real majors, rather than soft majors, or “studies” majors?
