Cal State leaders visit churches to encourage college attendance

SAN BERNARDINO >> You are college material, so start preparing.

That was the message Cal State San Bernardino President Tomas Morales delivered to congregants at Cathedral of Praise International Ministries, and other Cal State University leaders delivered to African-American churches across California.

“I grew up very poor in the South Bronx, and I was told I wasn’t college material,” Morales said. “Now, I run a college.”

Morales spoke for just under five minutes between praise music and the sermon at the church, which is on the corner of Del Rosa Avenue and Lynwood Drive.
