University of Missouri president Tim Wolfe resigns after protests over racial tensions

University of Missouri president Tim Wolfe resigned Monday morning after a parade of protests over racial tensions at the school — including a football team mutiny, a hunger strike and a planned faculty walkout.

“It’s the right thing to do,” a shaken Wolfe said at a press conference.

“My decision to resign comes out of love, not hate.”

He said he took “full responsibility” for racial conflicts brewing at the school, and urged the campus community to “use my resignation to heal and start talking again.”
