How a proposed moment of silence to honor 9/11 victims became the latest victim of the would-be despots of America’s campuses.
The everything-is-offensive brand of campus activism has struck a new low: Students at the University of Minnesota killed a proposed moment of silence for 9/11 victims due to concerns—insulting, childish concerns—that Muslim students would be offended.Has it truly come to this? Is feelings-protection now such an overriding goal that completely unreasonable fears win out, even if they have no basis in reality? Can we not even have a single moment to recognize legitimate victims of terrorism without worrying that someone will feel marginalized on campus?

The students have too much time on their hands. What happened to full course loads, term papers, tests, school newspapers and clubs? Kiddies, we almost lost our eldest daughter on 9/11. I don’t give a rat’s @$$ if remembering that offends anyone.

Before anyone gets their collective panties in a bundle, read the full article. The Minnesota Student Association was 33 to 26 against holding a moment of silence. That’s certainly not the whole student body – not even close (50,000+). The vote wasn’t binding on the U and they will be holding the moment of silence. So, if your whining about the opinions 0f 33 students out of 50,000+, you might think about getting a life.

No, it’s 33 out of 59 or roughly 56%. If the sample set is representative of the student body then you’re talking about over 27.9 thousand students out of the 50. That’s significant and disturbing. Clearly, these morons feel compelled to invent stupid things to get torqued about.
Students may forget 911, but you know who won’t? Muslims. It’s also a day for them to remember and they don’t give a damn how offended you are.

I did read the article pheonixhm, 33 student leaders voted against, but was overruled by the school. It never made it to a student vote. If the school had let this stand it would have never gone to a full vote by the student body because the student leadership rules all. They just wanted their “safe place” which in of itself means they get butthurt over nothing.
