LSU band to learn South Carolina alma mater and fight song for Saturday’s game

LSU may be playing a “road” game at Tiger Stadium, but the university is doing its best to give the South Carolina Gamecocks a hometown atmosphere for Saturday’s contest.

According to WAFB’s Jacques Doucet, the LSU marching band will learn South Carolina’s fight song and alma mater, and will play both during the pre-game festivities. Roy M. King, LSU’s athletic band director, confirmed the news on Wednesday.

South Carolina was forced to move the game from Columbia, S.C., to Baton Rouge, La. because of the devastating flooding that took place in Columbia and across the state this week. The South Carolina pep band announced it will be unable to travel to Louisiana for the game.

LSU coach Les Miles offered his support to the university and the state on Wednesday.

“We want to support South Carolina in anything they want to do,” Miles said during the SEC teleconference. “We have been through weather issues here.”
