His father was able to get youth support. Now, can Rand win that same group and get the nomination?

The Wall Street Journal reports.

Rand Paul Makes a Back-to-School Pitch for Student Support

Republican Sen. Rand Paul is looking to college students to help jump-start his flagging 2016 presidential campaign, releasing a new video urging his young supporters to organize their campuses over the next month.

The goal is to establish Paul campaign chapters on 300 campuses in 30 days, Mr. Paul says in the video.

The video, released Thursday as students are preparing to return to school for the fall , comes at a time when the Kentucky senator’s poll standing has sagged and he has tried to seize more attention by becoming one of the party’s most vocal critics of reality television personality Donald Trump.

Mr. Paul — whose father, Ron Paul, had strong youth appeal when he ran his long-shot presidential campaign in 2012 — is not alone among Republicans in seeking student support: Florida Sen. Marco Rubio has a “Students for Rubio” fan club, for example.

But Republicans are facing a stiff challenge in seeking support from younger voters, as polls consistently show that the millennial generation tilts Democratic in party preference and liberal on social issues like gay marriage.
