University of Maryland professor’s extra credit problem goes viral
WASHINGTON — A University of Maryland psychology teacher’s mind-bending extra credit offer is pretty much blowing up the Internet.
Dylan Selterman told his social psychology students that they could earn either two points or six points of extra credit on their final papers. Of course, there was a catch: If more than 10 percent of the class chose six points, nobody in the class would get the extra credit.

Every one that studied and knew they were going to pass should have picked 6 points so no one got anything they did not earn.
Why make a big deal of it? It is the sort of thing Psychology Profs have been doing for decades. It is silly.
I am sure 99% of the students picked 6 points figuring they were entitled and could probably raise a huge stink with the administration when they didn’t get it. Trigger warning and such.
From the article, there is a full-on social media debate over “Should an entire group be made to suffer because of the selfish acts of the few?”
Like yielding to the LGBT gang?
Or to the gun control gang?
Or to the Confederate flag gang?
Or to the “you wore the wrong shirt at Mission Control” gang?
Or to the “you donated to the wrong group” gang?
Or to the feminazis?
Or to the global warmists?
All of which describe a selfish few who demand that the rest of society must abide by their screeching.
Dear Professor Selterman: TANSTAAFL. Stop pretending that there is.
