Justice Scalia is ruining my students because he’s too entertaining, law school dean says
University of California-Irvine law professor complained about Scalia’s sarcastic remarks in his written opinions, as the College Fix reported:
“Erwin Chemerinsky, dean of the University of California-Irvine’s law school, is speaking out against the allure of Scalia’s writing style to his own students.”
“Lately my students have been turning in legal briefs laced with derision and ad hominem barbs” reminiscent of Scalia’s opinions, Chemerinsky wrote in a Los Angeles Times op-edlast week. Scalia’s tone sets “a terrible example for young lawyers.”

Those who have been in the military are familiar with how some senior enlisteds and officers can absolutely /shred/ someone who has come to their negative attention, without raising their voices or using a single harsh word or phrase. It is a true artform. (Useful against trolls, BTW.)
Beginners should be cautious of overdoing it.
My first thought on the subject was how educators back in the 50’s and 60’s proclaimed that nothing entertaining could be educational.
