Bethany College on probation for financial problems
Bethany College found out this week the school is on probation because it’s finances are not in order. For decades the school has operated, off and on, in a deficit.
Bethany is working under an interim president right now. Dr. Robert Vogel started on Monday. He found out Wednesday his school is on probation. Now he has two months to develop a plan to get them out.
The school has known for months the Higher Learning Commission was looking at the school for compliance accreditation issues.
The school’s probation is because it is not in compliance because of finances and assessment.
Interim President Dr. Robert Vogel says finishing the assessment is an easy fix and is really not the issue.
He says the school is on probation because of how it has handled its money.
“It’s a wake up call,” Vogel said referencing the probation. “What was chronic is now acute, get it fixed.”
