Advocacy Group Makes Sexual Consent Contracts Available to College Students
Have we really come to this? Will every college student need a lawyer in the future too?
Ashe Schow of the Washington Examiner reported.
Advocacy group distributes sexual ‘consent contracts’ to college students
The Affirmative Consent Project, which advocates for “yes means yes” sexual consent policies, has been distributing “consent contracts” to college students across the country.
The contract states in big red letters: “YES! We agree to have SEX!” (emphasis original), and asks participants to take a photo together holding the contract. If a camera can’t be found, then the participants would need to fill out the form included on the back of the contract.
The group provided the Washington Examiner with an image of the form, which simply states that on this date (fill-in-the-blank) “We agree to have consensual sex with one another.” The form also provides spaces for two parties to sign and print their names.
Even that probably wouldn’t be enough of a defense against an accusation, when all an accuser has to do is say she was too drunk to consent to the photo or the sexual activity. And remember, if the handwriting on the back is noticeably slurred by both parties (meaning the accused was also too drunk to consent) it doesn’t matter, only the accuser’s word matters.
The contract comes as part of a “Consent Conscious Kit,” which also includes a pen (to sign the contract, duh), breath mints and a condom. The kit comes in either a canvas or faux suede bag with the group’s logo — the male and female gender symbols combined at the circle.
Alison Berke Morano, who helped found the Project, told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that “yes means yes” policies have spread “faster than I’ve seen other movements.”

All that will happen is that college men will no longer date or have much to do with college women. Colleges created a defacto sex segregation system and I for one am thrilled with it. Soon of course the mere presence of men on campus will be a trigger and again, when the schools all become single sex it won’t be terrible. The transition away from coed to single sex colleges will be fairly painful because the colleges themselves will see a big dropoff in enrollment but that’s what they need to do ‘for the greater good’. It will be fascinating to watch colleges with world class engineering and technology programs vote to exclude women out of economic necessity or close their doors by Title IX fiat. It will be fascinating to watch schools attempt to create parallel programs for men and women separately because they can’t be allowed to interact anymore. It will be fascinating to watch colleges stop employing men in the name of diversity.
Isn’t this rather like a common-law marriage contract? Does it come with an expiration date or is it a lifetime agreement? Does is come with any considerations of alimony or child support in that event?
One can imagine this being formalized with witnesses and a government official to verify conscious consent . It could evolve into something like a marriage license, especially since the courts have now decided that marriage is essentially…whatever.
Will there be clauses establishing the number of orgasms allowed/permitted? Will foreplay be a requirement? How long does the contract last?
This is going to get really good. More popcorn please.
