A dispute over an all too familiar logo resulted in this Ohio high school’s graphic change.

Ohio school to change logo after complaint from University of Arizona

Jonathan Alder High School in Plain City, Ohio, is in search of a new logo, and it wasn’t the school’s choice.

According to WSYX ABC 6, the small-town high school received a cease and desist letter from the University of Arizona over the usage of the “Block A” logo.

The logo that Jonathan Alder High Pioneers had been using was virtually identical to Arizona’s, except the high school replaced the navy with black. That wasn’t enough of a tweak for UA. Alder said it attempted to negotiate a compromise with Arizona but Arizona was not willing to consider that option.

ABC 6 reported that the university found out about the logo’s usage after it was tipped off by a licensing company in Atlanta.

Fans of the high school will be sad to see the logo gone. An employee at a Plain City memorabilia store said:

“(Arizona is) 2000 miles away,” said Kerri Ferguson, who also works at Main Street Treasures. “What do they care for a little farm community and a very small school?”
