University in Wales Bans the Bible for ‘Not Being Multicultural Enough’
If you’ve been paying attention, you know that this could happen here too. Some would go so far to suggest that this is the goal for many on the left.
The Express reported.
Bibles banned from university for ‘not being multicultural enough’
Students at Aberystwyth University, the former university of Prince Charles, voted to ban Bibles being automatically placed in their accommodation, ending a tradition going back generations.
However, the university’s Students’ Union – who carried out the poll – has been criticised for implementing the measure after only five per cent of the total 10,000 students turned out to vote on the issue.
Of those, 63 per cent backed the ban – a total of just 300 people.
The Bibles will be removed from those bedrooms reserved for first-year students at the end of the current academic year.
New students will then have an option to request a religious text in their room if they want one.
The Bible ban was called for by students John David Morgan and Daniel Brothers.
Mr Morgan told a student council meeting: “Compulsory inclusion of Bibles in university bedrooms is inappropriate in a multicultural university such as Aberystwyth.
“It could be offensive for some, and the university should provide a safe space for students to explore and develop their beliefs in a neutral environment.
“Bibles should however still be available for those who wish to have them.”

OK, don’t read it then. Problem solved.
So they banned the ‘compulsory’ placing of Bibles in the rooms. Of first year students. Big deal. Students can request one if they don’t have their own. As near as I could tell from the article nobody from the university said the Bible wasn’t ‘multicultural enough’. Perhaps the author could clarify?
P.S. Actually, I see the term came from the headline of the original article, and not from the LI authors (which is a relief). I’ll read the headlines next time, too. I don’t necessarily disagree with the student government’s reasoning. Apologies to Aliester.
More from the “Can’t Make This Shit Up” department.
Is there any major religious text that could not be banned on the same pretext? Is there any national constitution that could not also be banned? Should the clothing we wear also be banned as “not being multi-cultural enough”, or the food we eat?
The reasoning is stupid, but I have no problem with what is being done. From the excerpt, they are NOT banning the Bible, they’re just not automatically putting them into dorm rooms. Students can still request them if they want them (and even then, why can’t they just bring their own to school?).
