WATCH: University President Shows up at House Party, Gives a Speech
It’s not every day a university President shows up at a giant house party, gives a speech, and is cheered by a rowdy crowd of college students. While Quinnipiac president John Lahey may have scored points with the kiddos, neighbors and parents weren’t too thrilled.

HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A Quinnipiac party quickly got out control, even the host will admit it needed to be shut down, but the school’s president, John Lahey, made a surprise visit that has neighbors seething.
The wild party held by Quinnipiac students in broad daylight Saturday afternoon was captured by a neighbor’s cell phone camera. The scene is a house party that quickly spun out of control on Delsole Road in Hamden.
“There were cars everywhere,” said a neighbor. “On lawns, both sides of the road. Kids everywhere with open bottles, cans.”
And if the illegal drinking and crowds weren’t enough, Quinnipiac University President John Lahey even showed up, giving an impromptu speech posted to YouTube, where he encouraged the crowd.
“Biggest crowd since the Yale hockey game!” said Lahey.
Neighbors were shocked by the crowd’s and Lahey’s behavior.
“I couldn’t believe it. I honestly couldn’t believe it. Hundreds and hundreds (of people), very disrespectful,” the neighbor said.
“They were coming with containers of liquor,” said Hollie Schrader, a neighbor who called Hamden police. “No bathroom facilities, so that was a problem.”
No bathrooms was a big problem, as one student was caught on cell phone camera urinating in plain sight, right in the front yard of a neighboring house.
Even the person responsible for the party says that things quickly spiraled out of control.
