FLORENCE, S.C. – The state law enforcement division and the federal bureau of investigations have been called to investigate acts of vandalism on the Francis Marion University Campus.
Campus officials said the numbers “1:12” were tagged dozens of times around the campus overnight Sunday.
The meaning of the numbers, painted in red, are unknown at this point, officials said.
“The observation from SLED at this point is that this is nothing more than a simple act of vandalism,” said Dr. Fred Carter, president of Francis Marion University.
The student center and the library were tagged numerous times, officials said. The “octagon” in the housing area, a few sidewalks and the south side of the Marion statue were also involved, officials said.

Mysterious red numbers? Better call the FBI out. Trash statues of Reagan and Thatcher? Nothing to see here. Move along. Just a free speech issue.
