University of Alabama fires men’s basketball coach Anthony Grant
TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) –
The Director of Athletics at the University of Alabama announced Sunday that Anthony Grant would not be retained as head coach of the men’s basketball team.According to a press release from the university, Bill Battle spoke with Grant earlier on Sunday and informed him of the decision.
Grant’s record in six seasons as the head coach of Bama men’s basketball is 117-85. He led the Tide to two NIT appearances and one NCAA tourney appearance in 2012. In nine seasons as a head coach, Grant’s overall record is 193-110, including his time at Virginia Commonwealth.
The change in direction for the Tide comes after an 18-14 overall record in the 2015 season with an 8-10 conference record, not including a first round loss to Florida in the SEC Tournament.
