Jared Cohen, Director of Google Ideas, spoke at the George Bush library. He began by thanking President Bush for providing, “a frame of reference for what true leadership is.”

It’s worth the few minutes it takes to watch this.

Ian Hill from KAGS-TV in College Station reports:

Google Ideas director makes stop in Aggieland

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Jared Cohen, director of Google Ideas, spoke at the George Bush Presidential Library Friday evening. Some surprise guests showed up as well. Former President George Bush and his wife Barbara also attended the event.

More than a hundred people came to see Cohen speak. Cohen discussed how modern technology allows people around the world to stand up against injustice. He also says people in developing countries are some of the best at using technology.

“There’s a fundamental observation that I’ve made, which is people do more with less,” Cohen said. “And there’s no greater driver of innovation than necessity, and the more impoverished and lacking in infrastructure a society is, the more likely they are to teach us how to use the devices that we think we understand.”
