NBC News reports:

University of South Carolina Fraternity Member Found Dead

A University of South Carolina fraternity member was found dead at an off-campus home, authorities said. The national organization of Pi Kappa Alpha has suspended the chapter.

Authorities identified the student as Charles Terreni Jr., 18, a freshman. Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said there were no signs of trauma. He said he believes the cause of death will be determined by a toxicology report, due in about 10 days.

The student was found dead at a downtown home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity said in a statement that it has put the chapter on administrative suspension, and that it is cooperating with investigators. “The Fraternity’s thoughts and prayers are with the family of this young man and the brothers of Xi Chapter.”

The university distributed a statement to media Wednesday that cautioned the public not to jump to conclusions.
