Authorities investigate bomb threat at Broward College campuses

The Broward Sheriff’s Office is looking for the caller who made a bomb threat toward Broward College on Friday night that ultimately proved unfounded.

“Making a hoax bomb threat is a violation of state law, and it is routine for Violent Crimes detectives to investigate such threats,” said Dani Moschella, a spokeswoman for the agency.

According to police, a man called the Broward County non-emergency line at 6:14 p.m. and said he had planted bombs at Broward College. The caller did not say which campus.

By 9 p.m., Broward College had sent out an all-clear message. Angela Nicoletti, a media relations specialist for the college, said Broward College facilities would remain closed for the night.

“Broward College was closed for Spring Break but a few facilities were open, such as libraries and Bailey Hall (for a public lecture),” Nicoletti said in an email. “Notice was sent out through the College’s BC Alert system, including social media and the website.”
