Good for them. This is a follow up to a story we reported earlier this week.

College stands firm against atheists who demanded apology for video connecting religion and democracy

When Chancellor Jack Hawkins of the Alabama-based Troy University dared send a year-end email to the campus community last month with a 90-second video that delved into the concept of how religion is critical to the functioning of a democracy – atheists soon demanded an apology.

They are not going to get one.

The university issued a statement standing firm, saying the video was meant to “spur introspection and encourage thoughtful discussion as we transition from the challenges of 2014 to the opportunities ahead in 2015,” AL.com reported today.

“Troy University is an international university that contributes regularly to the global marketplace of ideas,” Troy’s statement added. “This message and video were shared to provide the university community with information and insights for healthy consideration and debate about our country’s democracy, the role it plays in the world and the challenges America faces going forward.”
