Police Investigate ‘Several’ Swastikas Painted on Tufts Campus Building

Police are investigating “several” swastikas painted on the south side of a Tufts University campus building Saturday morning.

The markings were seen on the rear of Lewis Hall along Powderhouse Blvd. and were similar to those seen both on- and off-campus late last month, university police said.

Campus police are working with Somerville authorities to find the vandals, according to a statement from the university.

“As President Monaco has said in the past, such deplorable acts, which are counter to the values of the Tufts community, are deeply concerning,” the statement read. “We are taking this incident extremely seriously.”

The school was also hit in April of last year, with nearly two dozen swastikas painted throughout the campus and nearby Medford on the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day.
