Let’s face it. We all knew college students would take this up as a cause.

Maryland university students protest Ferguson decision

BALTIMORE —Activists and students at many Baltimore-area universities organized protests against the decision by a grand jury in Ferguson, Missouri, not to indict Officer Darren Wilson in the death of Michael Brown.

A Tuesday morning protest at Morgan State University drew about 100 students to the steps of the Northeast Police District, which is near the campus. The demonstrators gathered at the student union and marched through campus to the police station with signs in peaceful protest.

The students told 11 News their concerns go beyond Ferguson. One of the organizers said they drew up what they called a list of demands, including concerns about police injustices in the Baltimore area.

“These are actions that should have been made a long time ago, but honestly, what’s happening in Ferguson, and in New York and other places right now, it’s just a catalyst to make quicker action,” said Morgan student protester Ashley Gaddy.

“There are things that happen every day. There have been issues where police officers haven’t been in the best interest of the students. It’s all correlated to injustice in general,” said student Eliot Williams.

“We marched here two years ago for Trayvon Martin. At that rally we said we wouldn’t continue to stand for these things, and two years later stuff like this happens again. We’re just not taking no for an answer,” said student Chineeu Nwokeafor.
