British University Students: Pee in the Shower to Reduce Water Usage
It actually would reduce water usage, so there’s no fighting them on that point. People are free to make up their minds and do with their bodies as they please, so we shouldn’t demonize this type of thing. But, yes, it is funny.
Also, anyone who doesn’t wear sandals, flip flops, or water shoes in a college dorm shower really needs to reevaluate their own personal hygiene.
UEA students urged to urinate in shower
The Go with the Flow campaign is the brainchild of students Debs Torr and Chris Dobson, from the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich.
They want the university’s 15,000 students to take their first wee of the day while having their morning shower.
Mr Dobson, 20, said the idea could “save enough water to fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool 26 times”.
The pair want those taking part to pledge their allegiance on Facebook and Twitter and have offered gift vouchers to the first people to join the challenge.
Mr Dobson said: “We’ve done the maths, and this project stands to have a phenomenal impact.
“With 15,000 students at UEA, over a year we would save enough water to fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool 26 times over.

I’d love to see the numbers for actual water savings, but I think we all know they’d never publish them. One, there’s no way to verify compliance. Two, anyone who says they’ve never peed in the shower is a liar. I think their estimate of potential water savings is overblown by about, oh let’s say 25.5 swimming pools.
