If you’re selling drugs on campus, you’re not only committing a crime you’re wasting other people’s time and money.

Drug bust leads Gettysburg College to sanction 27 students

More than 25 students were found to have violated Gettysburg College’s policy, resulting in expulsions, suspensions and dismissals from campus, according to a letter from college president Janet Morgan Riggs.

In an email sent July 14 to parents and alumni, Riggs stated the 27 sanctions were given in response to the college’s internal investigation, which involved the questioning of 39 students. The investigation was in response to a Philadelphia-area drug ring investigation earlier this year that also included Lafayette College.

In addition, Phi Sigma Kappa is also no longer recognized by the campus for at least five years based on the investigation’s findings and the recent disciplinary action against the fraternity, the letter states.

“It is clear that we are not immune to the problems associated with drug and alcohol abuse among our nation’s young people,” Riggs said in the email. “(But) the actions of a few individuals are not reflective of the Gettysburg College community as a whole.”

The school began its internal investigation in April after police arrested Neil K. Scott, 25, who police say led a drug ring selling to high school and college students, including those at Gettysburg, according to an affidavit from the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office.

Others were also arrested in the drug investigation, including Lafayette students John Cole Rosemann, 20, of Weston, Conn., and Christian Stockton Euler, 23, of Villanova. Both were charged with participating in a corrupt organization, possession with intent to deliver, possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and conspiracy.

Authorities said the drug ring sold marijuana, hash oil, cocaine and Ecstasy. In addition to Gettysburg and Lafayette, investigators said the alleged ring targeted the Haverford School, a private K-12 institution; Lower Merion, Harrington, Conestoga and Radnor high schools, and Haverford College.
