Reality TV film causes pampered Atlantic City public school official to quit
Crew films him doing anything but his actual job.
Atlantic City’s school district is one of the most notorious ones in the country.
We reported on its test-cheating scandal earlier this year.
Now, a TV crew captured another district employee in his “natural environment” that included massages and manicures. Fortunately for Atlantic City’s under-served students, he quit after the video was released.
The lead attendance officer for the Atlantic City school district has quit after a TV news crew documented him doing anything but his job.
WPVI-TV in Philadelphia showed Nicholas Russo getting massages, manicures and car washes when he was supposed to be working.
The report also found Russo called in sick but filled out his time cards to show he was working and spent time at a liquor store he owns instead of looking for truants.
When confronted by a reporter, Russo initially said he was using his lunch hour to take care of personal business. But he had no comment after he was shown the video.
School officials said Wednesday Russo had resigned days after being suspended from his $72,000 job that he had held for 20 years.

Will he have to pray 10 years of salary? He’s getting 10 years free cuz it might have taken him that long to be fed up with and figure out how to game the system.
Um, you *do* realize that Atlantic City is a different place from Atlanta? C’mon, Prof. Jacobsen deserves better attention to detail from you.
Agreed
(first, apologies for my misspelling of the good Professor’s name in my comment)
Strike two, Leslie. Headline changed from Atlanta to Atlantic City (no notice of correction), but the jump to a prior article is about Atlanta, not Atlantic City.
Mistakes happen. admit them, fix them, learn from them, and then move on.
From what I know of Atlanta is an easy mistake to make. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if most of the Gold Clubs daytime clientele were city, county(including school) and state employees.
sigh insert “it” between Atlanta and is.
