Last year, the University of Tennessee hosted a Sex Week so distasteful that it inspired law school student Brandon Whiteley to detail The Big Orange Screw.

Fox New’s Bill O’Reilly also had a report covering the controversy.

Student reporter Jessica Carr offers a description of some of this year’s events.

UT Sex Week has released its 2014 schedule with events kicking off on March 2 with the “My Milkshake Brings all the Boys to the Yard: Aphrodisiac Cooking Class” at the International House.

Other events leading up to Sex Week include a performance of “Rent” by UT students from Jan. 30-Feb. 2 at the Lab Theater on UT’s campus.

Sex Week is sponsored by SEAT (Sexual Empowerment and Awareness at Tennessee). The group strives to foster a comprehensive and academically-informed conversation about sex, sexuality and relationships with the purpose of educating the University of Tennessee student body and the Knoxville community through innovative, collaborative and entertaining programming and events.

The first Sex Week at UT faced some controversy when weeks before the first event they lost two-thirds of their funding. State Legislators influenced UT administrators and they made the decision to pull the funding. However, SEAT managed to raise all their funding back after 36 hours of private fundraising with the public.

One of the items that the student reporter failed to note was that a key host of the event is porn actress Tristan Taormino. The starlet will hold a Q+A session, a class titled “Get Wet: Exploring the Connections Between Sexual Pleasure, Health, & Advocacy” and another called “We Can’t Stop: Orgasms and Masturbation”. Her body of work includes “Tristan Taormino’s Guide to Bondage for Couples.”

I am sure parents of the students attending these events will feel they are getting every penny’s worth from their tuition dollars.
