One of the most stunning developments during the trial of George Zimmerman was the discovery of how poorly educated the star witness for the prosecution was, as she admitted she was unable to read cursive.

Now, radio show host Tom Joyner has offered Rachel Jeantel a full university scholarship with the stipulation that she attend a historically black college.

Joyner, who is black, made the offer when she appeared on The Tom Joyner Radio Show on Tuesday morning.

“If you want to graduate from high school, and go to an HBCU, even if it’s not in Florida but especially Florida, like Florida Memorial, Edward Waters or FAMU, if you want to do that, I want to help you do that,” said Joyner.

“I will help you get tutors to get you out of high school, tutors to help you pass the SAT and I will give you a full ride scholarship to any HBCU you’d like,” he continued.

Jeantel was apparently the last person to speak with slain Florida youth Trayvon Martin before he was shot to death by neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman. She quickly became a media sensation and a star witness in the case in which Zimmerman was ultimately acquitted.

According to Jeantel’s lawyer, Rod Vereen, she is interested in going into law enforcement.

“She actually told me, believe it or not she wants to go into law enforcement,” he said, also speaking on the Joyner’s show. “You know we were sitting down at dinner last night and one of the producers was asking us ‘what does the future hold for you?’”

“[S]he said ‘well I was really considering being homicide investigator,’ you know so that’s what she’s interested in,” he concluded.

Joyner told Jeantel, who appeared on the show, his son who runs the Tom Joyner Foundation, would be in touch if her parents were interested.

“They will be interested, they’re listening right now,” replied Jeantel.
