Florida teacher suspended for taping student’s hands
It looks like a Florida science teacher’s experiment with in-class student punishments was a complete failure.
A science teacher at Lake Brantley High School is serving a five-day suspension without pay for taping a disruptive student’s hands together.
According to a letter sent by Seminole County Schools Superintendent Walt Griffin to Greg Sims, the suspension began on Wednesday.
Orlando television station WESH reports Sims is accused of taping the students hands together and attempting to tape her mouth shut because she wouldn’t stop listening to music and singing in class. Sims apparently also taped the girl’s book bag to a pole inside the classroom.
Records show that Sims was given letters of direction in 1999 and 2005 for saying things to embarrass students. He was given two-day suspensions in 2001 and 2008, also for embarrassing students.
