Old news, alas:

When I want to learn something I go to the best individuals in that area I can find. I don’t go to idiots because they have nothing to offer. We now have an entire school system which was created by idiots, taught by idiots, controlled by idiots and now everyone wonders why the children haven’t learned anything. Further, that epic failure of a system is now on a road show to infest every corner of the country. The path to success is not achieved by deliberately creating failure.
I came to Legal Insurrection for its excellent coverage of the Zimmerman trial. It was the only place I found that presented the legal issues and evidence accurately. Therefore, your inaccurate characterization of this video is disappointing.
Nowhere did the presenter say anything that a reasonable person would interpret as “It’s ok to say that 3 X 4 = 11 as long as you can explain why you feel that 3 X 4 = 11.” As she said very clearly, the point is to not only to know that 3×4 is 12, but to know *why* it’s 12. Also, to be able to be able to explain that “why” to others, and to do so clearly. There’s a difference between saying it’s 11 because you don’t know what you’re doing, and saying it because you have a brain cramp in the final step.
In other words, the point is to require students to back claims with evidence and sound, clearly communicated logic. A goal that I think all of us here would support. Your own post did not provide a useful example thereof.
