Study hard and you too can become a professional water slide tester
I’m trying to imagine how this conversation would go. Hey mom and dad, thanks for spending $150,000 on my college education, I have great news…

College Student’s Dream Job: Water Slide Tester
A British university student just snagged a hedonist’s dream job: a water slide tester who will travel the world this summer for a vacation company.
Seb Smith, 22, pictured above, was selected from 2,000 applicants to ride and rate water slides for SplashWorld resorts. The all-inclusive resorts are owned by vacation brand, First Choice, and offer guests unlimited use of their waterparks. First Choice is part of travel company, TUI UK & Ireland.
As the company’s newest employee, Smith will judge slides based on characteristics like “biggest splash” and “adrenaline factor.”
Another Brit, Tommy Lynch, was the company’s previous slide tester.
“After four years doing a great job as our Slide Tester, Tommy has hung up his shorts and decided to look for a new challenge,” said the company. “We wish him all the best and look forward to our new water enthusiast taking on the role of Slide Tester for our All Inclusive SplashWorld resorts.”
Smith, of Somerset, England, is completing a degree in Design Technology at the University of Leeds in Great Britain.
With the new gig, he has a six-month contract to test slides and flumes at SplashWorld water parks around the world, in places like Majorca, Turkey and Iberotel Makadi Saraya Splash in Egypt, pictured below.
