It’s good to know that a strong advocate for limited government and fiscal sanity will be speaking to America’s college students.

Gary Johnson announces college speaking tour starting in April

Back in late January, we reported that former Libertarian Party presidential candidate Gary Johnson was getting back into the political fray with a speaking tour of college campuses across the country.

Now the schedule has been released and the former two-term governor of New Mexico who espouses the philosophy of smaller government (with a balanced budget) and greater individual freedom kicks off his “Live Free” tour of college campuses on April 1 at Miami (of Ohio) University.

“As I have traveled across the nation over the past couple of years, it is clear that the ideas of small government, fiscal responsibility and greater respect for individual liberty resonate with young people,” Johnson said in a statement.

“They understand that a $16 trillion debt, the erosion of civil liberty at the hands of the government, and the consequences of unnecessary intervention abroad are all going to end up on their shoulders.”

Johnson has not declared that he’s a candidate for any office but has returned to the political scene as the honorary chairman of the Our America Initiative, a non-profit.

The month-long campus tour will make stops in eight states and the District of Columbia, including an appearance at Johnson’s alma mater, the University of New Mexico, on April 8.
