Eureka! Sex Week Limit Exists for Some College Administrators
One student recently wondered why college and universities were assisting in the degradation of their students.
In The College Fix, Assistant Editor Jennifer Kabbany reports that one school seems to have located rare and elusive “Sex Week” limits.
Gee, let’s see – where to begin with Corning Community College’s Sex Week festivities?
On Monday, Planned Parenthood taught students “Getting Good at Getting It On!” On Tuesday, workshops included “How Society Dictates Your Sex Life” and “The Sex Life of Food.”
Wednesday’s docket offered “Queering Safer Sex” as well as “Latex, Toys, and Bonking – a sex education program affirming all gender identities and sexual orientations.”
But apparently, administrators at the New York-based community college drew the line at the gay porn star slated to host a little Q&A with the kids – at least when it came to hosting the event on campus.
So the talk was moved to the local library, prompting a national uproar if the high number of news reports on the situation is any indication.
“My responsibility as the president of this college is to respect the educational program in my best professional judgment and I’ve done that,” college President Katherine Douglas told WETM.
In response, LGBTQ students complained their rights were violated.
“We wouldn’t have picked somebody just because they were a porn star. We picked somebody who was an excellent speaker, very well educated, an author, a philosopher,” student Brandon Griewank told the news station.
Author? The only thing that shows up on Amazon.com under “Conner Habib” is a chapter called “Gay for Pay” in the book “Best Gay Stories 2012.” The book is a compilation of stories about the love and lust, trials and tribulations, and “subtle and protean” desires among gay men, its description states.
Oh, Habib also has a 2010 movie called “Stick It In” listed on Amazon. Let’s not overlook that beauty.
“A part of Conner’s speech was about how sexuality is viewed in academia, how people don’t talk about it,” student Connor Kinnaird told WETM.
Seriously? The workshops at Corning Community College, including Habib’s visit, are just another example in the increasingly growing parade of tawdry Sex Week events passed off as highbrowed education at colleges across the nation. At this point, what campus doesn’t offer some sort of salacious sex week?
Don’t worry – WETM reports Habib was still paid by the college to give the talk despite its relocation, but students who organized the event are mulling an official complaint of some sort.
Give us a break.
