College Students Protest for Right to Carry Guns on Campus
American college students often protest for their First Amendment rights to freedom of speech or freedom of religion.
Usually, they are not demonstrating in support of the Second Amendment. However, according to a report in The College Fix, that is changing.
Most college campuses forbid students to carry concealed weapons on campus. But some students are pushing back, claiming that campus guns bans leave them “defenseless.”
(CNSNews.com) – “Stop colleges from trampling on the rights of good people wanting to defend themselves.” That is the message the group Students for Concealed Carry wants to send to state lawmakers around the country.
The grassroots, conservative organization of more than 40,000 supporters is sponsoring a national silent protest April 8-12, in which students will wear empty gun holsters to class to show that they are “defenseless” without guns on campus.

A stealth way to get guns back on campus would be to organize shooting clubs, and have those clubs apply for recognition from student government, etc. Oh, the hilarity that would then ensue!
But in all seriousness, shooting clubs would help de-mystify guns, provide an outlet for recreation, and (perhaps) recalibrate what is considered ‘normal’ on campus.
I’m sure the local NRA chapters would be willing to help.
Has anyone mentioned the six armed men who rob a student across the street from the San Diego State Campus Police station, the rise in crime across California since the open carry ban, or the 275% increase in forcible rape in Carlsbad in just the first 6 moths of 2012?
