Prager University just released its newest on-line course. The most recent offering comes from the Religion/Philosophy Department, features Frank Pastore (host of the largest Christian talk show in the United States), and addresses timeless questions:

Do you have free will? Do you have the ability to shape your own destiny? Is there a difference between your mind and your brain? Or is free will just a convenient delusion? Are you really just a product of physical forces beyond your control?

Pastore divides influences on human thought patterns into three categories:

1) External (e.g. thinking about removing a hand from a hot object)
2) Internal (e.g., making yourself nervous about a presentation)
3) Conscious choices (e.g., using many factors to decide where to go for lunch)

Using the lunch example, Pastore makes a case that the “Immaterial Mind” is quite different from the the material brain. He notes that psychology cannot be reduced down to physics, chemistry, and biology.

“A great mind accounts for your mind,” Pastore concludes.

The Prager University lecturer is is a former professional baseball pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds and the Minnesota Twins. Pastore has degrees in business administration, philosophy of religion and ethics, political philosophy, and American government from various universities. He is currently the host of the Frank Pastore Show on KKLA 99.5 FM in Los Angeles. Pastore is also the author of an uplifting autobiography, “Shattered – Struck Down But Not Destroyed.
