Prager U. Course: Adam Carolla on Luck
“Everything in life is luck,” declared infamous celebrity entrepreneur Donald Trump.
Not true, according to comedian and podcaster extraordinaire, Adam Carolla, in a humorous lecture on “Luck” developed specially for Prager University. The following video is the most recent offering at the new online college opened by talk show host Dennis Prager to fight liberal bias. Click below to watch:
Prager University: Adam Carolla on Luck
In this Life Studies class, Carolla points out that 99% of people are both lucky and unlucky. He notes that much of what people interpret as “luck” is actually the fruit of of personal effort, preparation, and diligence.
“Don’t count on luck; rely on hard work,” says Carolla.
As an example, the comedian says that many consider him “lucky” that another famous entertainer, Jimmy Kimmel, helped him get started in the entertainment business. Carolla says that he made his own luck: He went to Kimmel’s radio station office, couldn’t get in, but came back and managed to introduce himself and impress Kimmel enough to get the “break”.
Carolla hosts The Adam Carolla Show and has appeared in “Dancing with the Stars” and “Celebrity Apprentice.” The comedian has been a guest on a variety on political talk shows, including Bill Maher’s “Politically Incorrect” and Bill O’Reilley’s “The O’Reilly Factor”. Although he tends to support liberal social viewpoints (e.g., support for abortion, the legalization of marijuana), Carolla’s opinions generally swing to the independent conservative end of the political spectrum.
